Smokey Bliss was founded by Kara Lanham, alongside her husband and co-owner, Greg, with one simple belief: property owners and guests deserve more than a management company—they deserve people who genuinely care.

For us, this isn't just a business. The Smoky Mountains are our home, and the vacation rental industry has been a major part of our lives for years.

Our Background

Long before Smokey Bliss was created, Kara spent years working hands-on in the Smoky Mountain vacation rental industry, eventually serving in a General Manager role overseeing the daily operations of more than 100 vacation rental properties.

Her experience wasn't limited to one part of the business. It included nearly every aspect of vacation rental management—from reservations and guest services to housekeeping, inspections, maintenance coordination, owner relations, property operations, and problem-solving behind the scenes.

Before entering vacation rental management, Kara also owned and operated a professional cleaning business for several years. That experience created an understanding of something that remains at the heart of Smokey Bliss today: a successful vacation rental starts with how well the property itself is cared for.

Greg also brings valuable hands-on experience and works alongside Kara in the day-to-day operation of Smokey Bliss.

Together, we've seen what works, what doesn't, and—most importantly—what owners and guests often feel is missing from large property management companies.

That experience became the foundation for Smokey Bliss Vacation Rentals.

Why We Started Smokey Bliss

We wanted to build something different.

We didn't want owners to feel like property numbers on a spreadsheet or guests to feel like reservation numbers in a system.

We wanted to create a company where you can actually reach the owners of the management company, where properties are personally known and cared for, and where decisions are made locally by people who understand the Smoky Mountain vacation rental market.

That's why Smokey Bliss is intentionally small and hands-on.

We're not interested in collecting hundreds of properties just to become the biggest management company in town. Our goal is to build a carefully managed portfolio where we can maintain the level of service and personal attention that our owners and guests deserve.

We live and work right here in East Tennessee and serve properties throughout Sevierville, Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg, Wears Valley, Townsend, Dandridge, Cocke County, and surrounding Smoky Mountain communities.

When there's a problem at one of our properties, we're not trying to solve it from another state.

Our approach includes hands-on property oversight, housekeeping, inspections, maintenance coordination, guest communication, reservations, marketing, owner communication, and the countless little details that keep a vacation rental operating successfully.
